Summary
We collect as little as the service needs, we do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with bookmakers or wagering operators. This policy explains what we collect, why, who sees it and how to reach us. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. What we collect
- Account details — your email address and password, held for us by Memberstack, our login provider.
- Payment details — collected and held by Stripe. We see your name, email, subscription status and the last four digits of your card, not the card number.
- Usage and device data — pages viewed, features used, browser and device type, IP address and approximate location, collected through server logs and analytics.
- Advertising data — the site uses the Meta Pixel, which tells Meta that your browser visited ClutchTip so that we can measure and target advertising on Meta platforms (see clause 5).
- Correspondence — anything you email us.
2. Why we collect it
- To run ClutchTip: answer questions, show and grade predictions, count free use and manage subscriptions
- To process payments and send receipts and service notices
- To respond when you contact us
- To understand how the service is used and improve it, including improving the prediction engine
- To detect abuse, fraud and scraping
- To measure and target our advertising
We only send marketing email if you have opted in, and every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with providers who process it for us, and only what they need:
- Stripe (payments)
- Memberstack (login and accounts)
- Vercel and Upstash (hosting and data storage)
- Email and support tools we use to reply to you
- Meta Platforms (advertising measurement, via the Pixel)
We may also disclose personal information where the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or to a buyer if our business is sold, in which case this policy continues to apply.
We never share personal information with bookmakers, wagering operators or their affiliates.
4. Overseas disclosure
Our providers store and process data mainly in the United States. By using ClutchTip you agree to your personal information being sent there. We choose providers with strong security practices, but overseas providers are not bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the same way we are.
5. Cookies and tracking
Meta Pixel. ClutchTip includes the Meta Pixel, which sets a cookie and reports page views and certain actions to Meta Platforms. Meta may combine this with information it already holds about you. You can opt out of ad tracking through your Facebook ad settings or by blocking third-party cookies. We do not use any other advertising trackers.
6. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to stored data is limited to what is needed to run the service. Payment card data never touches our systems. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a data breach likely to cause serious harm we will notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the law requires.
7. How long we keep it
Account and subscription records are kept while your account is active and for up to seven years afterwards where needed for tax and legal purposes. Usage logs are kept while useful for running and improving the service. If you ask us to delete your account we delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, apart from records we must keep by law.
8. Access, correction and complaints
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
9. Children
ClutchTip is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
We will post any changes here and update the date at the top. For material changes we will also notify subscribers by email.
